Education
T rerieve
welcomes any group onto the farm, to
show how a working organic farm is
run. People will be able to hear
about the social history of the farm
and see how the land has been worked
and looked after over the years, how
habitats are managed, the flora and
fauna and issues facing organic
farming.
All
visits can be tailored to the
ability and interests of the group
and can vary from a couple of hours
to a whole day. Groups can range
from those in primary to university
education, people with a specific
interest, for example vegetable
production or wool, maybe with a
visiting expert, or just groups of
visitors, as on
Open Farm Sunday.
The farm is accessible to coaches,
and off road parking is available. A
traditional stone built enclosed
barn is available which accommodates
up to 50. This can be used for talks
and presentations, as well as
providing shelter for light
refreshment or to eat lunch, etc.
A
Risk Assessment
is available as are
Teachers Packs,
with information on how any visit
can link in with the National
Curriculum. Jim has undergone
FACE
training, and Marian has worked with
people with special needs, so we
hope to be able to provide an
enjoyable educational experience.
